BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - People are looking for ways to help animals who were hurt by the oil gusher in the Gulf. A local band will raise money to help injured wildlife.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, but these pictures are worth far more than that. Pelicans covered from head-to-toe in oil, and so weighed down they can no longer fly. Sea turtles, an already endangered species, ingesting the heavy crude, and many not getting rescued in time.
And that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. Many want to help but don't know where to begin. Scott Celani, a local singer and songwriter, launched a campaign called, "Make It Up To Them" to raise money to aid in the wildlife recovery effort in the Gulf. A song entitled, "Make It Up to You" is the campaign's official song.
Celani explained, "The song is about let down, heartache, disappointment and eventual redemption. It's about second chances. A lot of charitable campaigns want $20, $50, $100. We want $1.99."
That $1.99 will buy you the song and 100 percent of that money will go to The National Wildlife Federation, which is the world's largest wildlife conservation organization. They are on the frontline of the wildlife recovery effort in the Gulf; assessing the damage and deploying resources to restore vulnerable nesting and breeding grounds.
Celani is hoping that the word about this campaign goes national. Anyone can purchase the song, and if the word spreads like they are hoping the possibilities will be endless.
The song is currently available for purchase on CDBaby.com, and will be available on iTunes by the end of the week. This is an easy way to get involved in the wildlife recovery efforts in the Gulf, while also supporting a local band.
