New York legislators are pushing through legislation that will expand availabilty of virtual casino table games at the state video lottery facilities like the one in Batavia.
The state Senate has passed a bill that would allow New York's eight video lottery parlors to offer virtual versions of baccarat, roulette and blackjack. The move is seen as a way to entice more gamblers.
With the state budget deficit getting deeper, lawmakers are looking to attract gamblers who now head to Pennsylvannia and New Jersey for a wider choice of games.
If the legislation is passed by the Assembly and approved it would also lengthen gaming hours from 112 to 128 hours a week.
Video lottery facilities, like the one in Batavia, are now limited to slot machine games and video poker.
