NEW YORK (WIVB) - The drive to curb New York State's mandatory new license plate fee is kicking into high gear.
Erie County Clerk, Kathy Hochul banded with other clerks from across the state for a petition against the new fee.
The state said the new fee will generate much needed revenue, but Hochul believes taxpayers are already nickel and dimed enough.
"We're looking for everyone's support in the community. This has touched a nerve and I feel I'm making progress. I think they're hearing us loud and clear in Albany."
Hochul says anyone who wants to sign the petition has until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
