ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Seneca Indian Nation is seeking a federal court order to stop New York State from collecting taxes on reservation cigarette sales.
Albany is planning to begin implementing the tax on September 1st. Tribal lawyers are asking a judge to issue a temporary restraining order. The Senecas argue the plan infringes on their federally protected rights. The governor's office has no comment.
