BALLSTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating an accident in which an 11-year-old boy was killed when he tried to stop a minivan with three other children inside from rolling down a driveway in upstate New York.

State police tell the Times Union of Albany ( http://bit.ly/P7kyUT ) that Lane Rowe, of Ballston, was killed in the accident that happened at a home in Ballston just before 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the minivan was parked on an inclined driveway with three passengers inside, a 12-year-old, a 4-year-old and a 2-years-old.

When the minivan began to roll backward, police say Rowe attempted to stop it he was knocked to the ground and run over.
