BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Parents of children with disabilities are speaking out against proposed budget cuts.

Governor Andrew Cuomo suggested a plan to slash $240 million in funding for programs and services for those with developmental disabilities.  On Tuesday, caregivers, parents and local leaders gathered in a heated protest against the cuts.

Barbara Delong said, "The governor wants to take away the mere money that they provide for us to pay our direct care professionals. How dare he."

The event was put together by the Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York. Budget proposals from lawmakers are expected to be unveiled next week.
