BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - After winning in a nasty primary fight, Senator Mark Grisanti beat three challengers to win re-election in the 60th State Senate District.
Grisanti faced a lot of flak for his choice to vote in favor of gay marriage. It became an issue in the primary and later in the election, with Grisanti's challengers claiming it showed the Senator's unwillingness to stand behind his constituents, who they argued were opposed to the measure.
Despite all the talk, when the results came in Tuesday night, Grisanti handily won the election. With 91% of precincts reporting, Grisanti had 50% of the vote, with his nearest challenger, Michael Amodeo, at 36%.
Grisanti declared victory Tuesday night.
