Paladino reportedly flips off show host

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two old foes met in Albany on Tuesday during a gun control rally in Albany.

Buffalo developer Carl Paladino was among the crowd of about 500 people who rallied to protest the New York SAFE Act. The newly enacted law includes a tougher ban on assault weapons, and stronger regulations on ammunition.

Opponents say these and the other provisions in the law violate Second Amendment freedoms.

NY Post columnist and talk show host Fred Dicker brought up the rally, and Paladino's presence in Albany, on his radio show Tuesday.

"Someone said to me, if you look at the mental health section of the new gun law, which is probably a pretty good section... Requiring mental health professionals to report certain types of people who are dangerous... The claim was that if you look at that section, Carl Paladino's likely to be reported," Dicker said.

Later, while in another segment of his radio program, Dicker exclaimed, "...nobody really pays attention - Oh! This is, Carl Paladino's at my window now. He just threw me the bird."

The National Rifle Association is beefing up its effort against universal background checks and is setting up a booth at a gun show in Virginia to lobby against gun control. The so-called "gun show loophole" allows many private purchases to avoid background checks.

The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association is planning another anti-gun law rally in Albany's Capitol Park, on February 28.
