PORTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - In Niagara County overnight, Mercy Fight flew into action following a serious accident involving a Sheriff's Deputy.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies confirm that a deputy was involved in a serious morning car crash.

The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. Monday, on Lake Road near Ransomville Road in the Town of Porter.

News 4 was told the deputy was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted by Mercy Flight, from the scene to ECMC. The officer was not responding to a call but may have been aiding a state trooper.

There is no word on whether speed played a factor in this crash. The sheriff’s office hasn’t made any announcements so far.
