BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A local girl is making hockey history - video game hockey history, that is.

14-year-old Lexi Peters from North Tonawanda wrote a letter to the popular video game company "Electronic Arts" or "EA Sports" asking why there isn't an option for a female character in their NHL game. According to the Globe & Mail Canadian newspaper, her letter stated that not including females in the game was “unfair to women and girl hockey players around the world”.

Ultimately, EA Sports agreed with her and changed the game.  When the game is released Monday night at midnight, her likeness will be included as the default option in the game when you choose to create a female player.
