NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Cataract City is welcoming several new firefighters to its ranks.
Four firefighters were sworn in during a public ceremony Wednesday afternoon at Niagara Falls City Hall. They're all fresh out of recruit school. Family, friends, and their new boss, Mayor Paul Dyster, were all there to welcome them aboard.
New Firefighter Steve Hess said, "Very happy about this moment. I think we're very excited about being part of the Niagara Falls Fire Department. It's just something I've always wanted to do, past family members that were in the fire department, so, very excited about it, yes."
At the same ceremony, Tom Colangelo was promoted to Batallion Chief of the Niagara Falls Fire Department.
