NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police say it appears a 6-year-old boy was struck by a van backing out of a driveway, and his father was behind the wheel.
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Friday on Stenzil Street in North Tonawanda. The boy appeared to have head injuries, but was conscious and crying when paramedics took him to Women and Children's Hospital. His condition has not been released.
North Tonawanda Police investigators took photos and measurements at the scene, but officers say they are not ready to release the names of those involved.
Right now, it appears this was simply an accident.
