ROYALTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - Niagara County health officials are warning residents about a confirmed case of rabies in a feral cat.
The feline, a member of a maintained colony of unvaccinated feral cats in Royalton, had been submitted to the NYS Department of Health after it exhibited strange behavior and attacked a person. On Thursday, officials confirmed the cat was rabid.
County health officials urge everyone to make sure their pets' rabies vaccination shot is current. They add if anyone was in the Berner Parkway area of Royalton and had contact with a cat, to notify the Niagara County Department of Health at 439-7511 or 439-7430 to allow officials to determine if an exposure has occurred.
