MIDDLEPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - An alleged case of bullying has lead to the suspension of a popular high school coach in Niagara County.
Don Baker has been suspended from coaching the Roy-Hart Girls Varsity Basketball team for the rest of the season. Baker was suspended after a parent reported to him an alleged bullying or hazing incident in the girl's locker room involving a player. The coach didn't report it, according to School Superintendent Kevin MacDonald.
MacDonald says that runs counter to the new anti-bullying code of conduct.
"I hope people learn from us, since we are in the media spotlight right now, and maybe it will prevent another incident like this from happening somewhere else," he stated.
MacDonald there was no physical contact between students. Some players may be disciplined as well, but the girl's basketball team is expected to finish out the season this year.
