NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Uncle Sam says a toxic waste dump in Niagara Falls is no longer a threat to the environment and should be removed from the Superfund list.

The Hooker Hyde Park landfill sits near Niagara University. The government says a cleanup of contaminated ground water and creek sediment have now eliminated any threat to the public.

The landfill was used from 1953 through 1975, containing some 80,000 tons of chemical waste, including dioxin.
