CAMBRIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - New jobs may soon be coming to Niagara County with plans moving forward for a high-tech business park.
The jobs aren't here - yet - but the Town of Cambria wants to make it as easy as possible for businesses to move in and set up shop.
A 152-acre site along Lockport Road west of Campbell Boulevard has been officially certified as 'shovel ready' by New York State. This means a lot of red tape has been cleared away and new companies can break ground at the site without many logistical problems usually associated with new construction projects.
State and local officials noted Thursday morning that National Grid provided a $300,000 grant to get things moving.
NYS Assemblyman John Ceretto said, "We are ready to move. We are shovel ready and I want to commend all the partners for joining together, creating those efforts, creating those jobs, created at a time with the eyes of the governor are upon us and ready for that change."
Those jobs aren't here yet, but State Senator George Maziarz says he has had discussions with companies - one of them out-of-state - about doing business in Niagara County.
