NIAGARA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Multiple fire companies responded to Porter Avenue in the Town of Niagara for an apartment fire.
It took crews around two hours to get the blaze that destroyed around ten apartments at the Royal Park Apartment Complex under control. Ten adults and two children have been left without a place to stay.
Incredibly, no one was hurt in the fire.
"I rushed out of the house and I saw the smoke coming out of here. I ran over to the back and the back was just completely engulfed with flames and black smoke," said Randy Dullen.
Niagara County Fire Coordinator Jonathan Schultz said, "The hard part about this fire was that it was in the conclave. Crews had to work through the ceiling, pulling down the ceilings and chasing the fire down. They actually had to go a couple of apartments down and push the fire back towards the apartment where it looks like it originated."
There is still no word on where or how the fire started. The Red Cross is assisting those impacted by the blaze.
