LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say three passengers fell from a jet boat into the lower Niagara River downstream of Niagara Falls and were pulled back aboard by the crew and other passengers.
The Buffalo News says it happened Monday during a run by Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours, a Canadian company that offers thrill rides in the turbulent Niagara Gorge.
A passenger described the boat filling with water and said his 15-year-old sister fell out, along with two other teenagers. The captain turned the boat around and the teens were thrown a line and pulled in.
No injuries were reported.
Company owner John Kinney says the rescue took under a minute and that crews are trained in swift-water rescues. The passenger said the rescue seemed to take longer.
