NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - The story about the man who lost his life trying to save one of his dogs up in Niagara Falls is tugging at the heart strings of western New Yorkers.
13-year old Michael Culver and a friend saw it all happen. The young teenager who ran for help exhibited such maturity and compassion when we interviewed him on Thursday.
"As long as the guy was all right, and as long as he was fine, I was going to feel happy about myself because I saved somebody. But it's just heartbreaking that he ended up dying. I'm really sorry for his family," said Culver.
Any parent would hope their child could be that thoughtful after experiencing such tragedy. And then there was the picture of one of the surviving dogs holding a single glove in his mouth. That single picture has stirred so much emotion from our viewers on our Facebook page.
According to the Niagara Gazette, Niagara Falls firefighter Frank Cacciatore and his family has adopted all three of the Golden Retrievers.
