BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - According to a survey conducted by CafePress, you don’t need to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – in fact, more than half of non-Irish adults (56%) plan on joining in on this year’s festivities. The survey reveals who will be wearing green, drinking beer, getting lucky and more.
Irish or not, people have big plans for St. Patrick’s Day. A new survey from CafePress reveals:
More than half (56%) of non-Irish adults plan on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in 2010.
84% of women plan to wear something green as they celebrate, compared to 72% of men.
Who will be the biggest drinkers this Wednesday? More than half (51%) of men ages 35-44 plan to celebrate by downing a pint of Irish beer or taking a shot of Irish whiskey.
Men are more likely than women to try to get lucky and kiss someone Irish - 13% of men reported that they want to smooch someone from the Emerald Isle, compared with only 8% of women
These lads will have many ladies to choose from, as 30% of women ages 18-34 will be going out to a bar or pub.
St. Patrick’s Day revelers are on their best behavior – only 2% of people plan to play hooky from work or school to take part in the festivities.
Who’s hungriest for corned beef and cabbage? The most likely to eat this traditional Irish meal today are retired people (55%) and unemployed people (42%) – compared to 29% of full-time/self employed adults, 25% of part-time employees and 17% of students.
This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of CaféPress.com from March 2-4, 2010 among 2,073 adults ages 18 and older, of whom 708 are Irish.
