GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - There's a greater effort Wednesday night to stop a swingers convention from coming to a Grand Island hotel.

For the next four days, the Holiday Inn on Grand Island will be closed to the general public so a swingers convention can take place. They have booked the hotel for the entire weekend.

Wednesday, the town attorney looked at whether or not any of the activities would violate town zoning codes.

Attorneys have contacted hotel management, and they have been assured that any questionable activities will be off the agenda this weekend, so all the town codes will be complied with.

"There's a law for example that says you cannot have body painting unless it's for children, so you know you can paint your face at a carnival or something, but you can't do it in an adult entertainment environment," said Grand Island Supervisor Peter McMahon.

Scott Zeplowitz, Holiday Inn General Manager, said, "There's nothing that is going on in the hotel that would not comply with any codes."

News 4 understands the State Liquor Authority was at the Holiday Inn to make sure they were in compliance. Also, according to the town supervisor the health department will be inspecting the hotel first thing on Monday.
