HATBORO, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a suburban Philadelphia man who allegedly told them that he fell on his infant daughter after drinking has been charged with endangering the child, who died.
Police in Upper Moreland Township said they were called to a Hatboro apartment just after 9:30 a.m. Sunday after 2-month-old Makayla Doyle was reported unresponsive. She later died at Abington Memorial Hospital.
Police allege that 28-year-old Edward J. Doyle originally told them that he found the baby unresponsive but later said he tripped while holding her and fell onto her, and he shouldn't have been caring for the child because he "drank too much."
Doyle remained in custody on $1 million bail and it was unclear whether he had an attorney; messages left at numbers listed for that name weren't immediately returned.
