SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say a driver who had been sitting asleep in his minivan at a traffic light was awakened by a police officer, then hit the gas and crashed into a parked car.
The Times-Tribune reports the crash happened in Scranton on Monday and the driver wasn't hurt.
Police say the officer knocked on the window of the minivan after spotting 47-year-old Jose Quiones Jr. asleep in the vehicle. Startled by the officer's knock, police say he apparently hit the gas and crashed into a parked car about 100 feet away.
Capt. Glen Thomas says Quiones was taken to a hospital for blood-alcohol testing. A telephone listing for him could not immediately be located.
