Peacock duo wins duct tape prom contest

The duo beat out 215 other couples

A peacock-themed couple took the top prize in a unique contest showcasing prom outfits made of colorful duct tape.

Izzy Bristow, 18, of Golden, Colo., and John Dyer, 18, of Evergreen, Colo., constructing their outfits in the form of peacocks using blue and green duct tape, copper leafing and baling wire. Each has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship. Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colo., was also awarded $3,000 for hosting the prom.

Second place honors went to brother-and-sister duo Maris and Zane Blanchard of Bixby, Okla., who each received a $2,000 scholarship and $2,000 for their high school, Bixby High School. Third-place finishers Jordan Fauser and Matthew Caughman of Houston each won a $1,000 scholarship and $1,000 for Jersey Village High School.

The duo beat out 215 other couples in the " Stuck At Prom " contest sponsored by Duck Tape brand duct tape. The field of competitors was narrowed to 10 finalist couples who were judged on workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories and quantity of duct tape used. More than 46,000 votes were cast during the two-week online voting period.
