CHILI, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say nearly 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken has gone up in flames after the truck hauling it to a supermarket distribution center caught fire on a suburban Rochester highway.
Officials say the tractor-trailer burst into flames while traveling Thursday night in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 490 in the town of Chili, just southwest of Rochester.
Fire officials tell the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester ( http://on.rocne.ws/UzlUo0 ) that the truck was hauling about 20 tons of frozen chicken from Mississippi to the Wegmans Distribution Center in Chili.
Fire investigators determined an overheated brake was the cause of the blaze.
The truck driver wasn't injured.
A stretch of eastbound I-490 was closed until early Friday morning while crews cleaned up the fire scene.
