TORONTO, ON. (WIVB) - Some Canadian high school students are learning lessons from the legacy of Jamey Rodemeyer.
17-year-old Jacques St. Pierre from a Toronto high school wrote to several celebrities, asking their help in supporting his assembly to promote an end to bullying. Lady Gaga's response came in a video posted on YouTube, in which she promises to carry on for Jamey.
Gaga said, "It is important that we spread tolerance and equality for all students. In light of the recent suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, because of the bullying that he experienced in school, I am going to be working as hard as I can to make bullying a hate crime."
Lady Gaga recently announced she would launch a foundation called "Born This Way" to deal with issues related to bullying. She previously paid tribute to Jamey in a concert last September. You can watch Lady Gaga's full message to the Toronto teen below:
