ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A 20-mile stretch of the Erie Canal in western New York will likely remain closed until next Friday while work crews try to repair a collapsed section of wall.

In an advisory to mariners, the Canal Corp. says the waterway between Medina and Holley in Orleans County remains temporarily closed to all boat traffic.

A large sinkhole emerged late Monday night last week on a road alongside the canal.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has said that workers will labor around the clock to fix damage.

A five-mile section has reopened from Medina to Middleport.
