AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Monday night, Richard Garnett's twin brother, Jesse, was shot and killed in Amherst.  You can understand why, then, he is visibly distraught.

Two weeks ago in Buffalo, their roommate, University at Buffalo graduate Javon Jackson, was gunned down. The three young men grew up in the Bronx together and shared an apartment in a Lisbon Avenue home.

Garnett said, "My roommate, now my brother. Everything is taken away. My dream is gone."

Richard says his brother was visiting his girlfriend and her two-year-old son at a Yale Avenue apartment when he was shot multiple times Monday night, possibly by her ex-boyfriend.

The mother and child weren't hurt. Amherst Police spent much of the day going door to door, in search of the alleged gunman. They want to talk to 24-year-old Andre Ridgeway of Buffalo.

Amherst Assistant Police Chief Timothy Green said, "He's considered a person of interest and at this time he's considered armed and dangerous."

Investigators wouldn't say whether Ridgeway was also considered a person of interest in the Mother's Day shooting of Javon Jackson.

News 4's Lorey Schultz asked Garnett if he thought the shootings are related.  Garnett said, "No. I never met the guy, never saw him. I don't know him.  (The) killing has got to stop. It's not good at all. If you want to fight. Fight with hands, not guns."

Richard, a student at U.B., says his brother moved in with him and Javon a year ago.

Everyone in the neighborhood seemed to know the budding musician.

John Jenkins said, "It's hard to wrap my mind around. I was just with him two days ago. Hard to process he's dead."

Garnett said, "My brother was a great person. He had a great sense of humor.  I love him to death."

Tuesday night, the search for Andre Ridgeway continues. Police consider him armed and dangerous. If you do know his whereabouts, you're advised not to approach him, but call 911 right away.
