BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A western New York congressman took center stage Saturday morning as he delivered the republican response to President Obama's weekly radio and internet address.
Republican Chris Lee focused on the economic message President Obama delivered on his trip to Buffalo this week.
He says lawmakers need to make tough decisions and cut spending to create jobs
Lee said, "We have asked President Obama to use his authority under the law to force Congress to consider spending cuts. We have also imposed an immediate, unilateral earmark ban and called for the savings to be used to reduce the deficit. And we have proposed strict budget caps to limit federal spending on an annual basis. Less spending, more jobs, it's that simple."
Lee says democratic lawmakers need to propose a budget that cuts into this year's projected record deficits.
