WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Williamsville residents go to the polls on August 17th to decide whether to dissolve their village government.

The board set the date for the referendum after receiving signed petitions asking that they put an end to the debate and schedule the vote, preferably before primary day.

Chris Duquin of the Citizens Study Group said, "There are a lot of people that are very strongly for protecting the village. What we are concerned about is there are a number of people who haven't joined the conversation, haven't been part of the hoopla, and we want to make sure they make an informed decision."

The Citizens Study Group has invited civic activist Kevin Gaughan to participate in three community meetings between now and the referendum for a civil dialogue on dissolving the village. For more information, follow this link.
