Rep. Reed on dip in Sea of Galilee

CORNING, N.Y. (WIVB) - Rep. Tom Reed is defending an evening of eating and drinking in Israel last summer that ended with one lawmaker skinny dipping one night in the Sea of Galilee.

The Southern Tier Congressman represents the 29 ^th Congressional District.  He and a group of lawmakers have come under scrutiny by the FBI for the evening. Poltico, a Capital hill web site first reported the incident.  

The GOP group plunged into the Sea of Galilee after dinner and drinks at a waterfront restaurant. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Kansas, reportedly took his dip without clothes.

Reed admits swimming that night but says he and his wife Jean were both fully clothed.

The lawmaker says it probably is something he would not do again, but at the time it didn’t seem like something extraordinary.
