ROCHESTER, NY - Billionaire Buffalo Sabres owner and former gubernatorial candidate Thomas Golisano is going to court to try to end an Erie County Board of Elections probe into his political activities.
A lawsuit filed in State Supreme Court Thursday seeks to bar Elections Commissioners Ralph Mohr and Dennis Ward from continuing what the suit calls a "baseless investigation" that began a year ago.
The suit was filed by Golisano and his Responsible New York organization, its director G. Steven Pigeon, treasurer Gary Parenti and two political action committees, Citizens for Fiscal Integrity and People for Responsible Government.
The Erie County Election Commissioners say the lawsuit against them by Tom Golisano's won't deter them from continuing their investigation into what they say are illegal campaign donations that Golisano and his political advisor Steve Pigeon have made to a number of candidates
