BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A former college hockey stand-out turned speedskater is making a name for herself on a national level.
Batavia's Brittany Salmon recently placed fourth in the United States National Championships.
It's quite impressive for someone that's only been involved in the sport for six months.
Five months after Salmon hung up her Princeton jersey, she had the itch to fufill her competitive nature.
She found the challenge she was looking for in speedskating.
But not at first.
Brittany admits she was anything but coordinated the first day she put on speedskates.
It's her competitive edge that has driven her to the near top of her sport in such a short time.
Locally, Brittany works out with the Buffalo Speedskating Club
at the Riverside Rink in Buffalo.
