ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - When you book a flight on a travel site, do you know if you'll be flying on a regional airline?

Senator Charles Schumer wants people know who they'll be flying with, before they step on board.

Schumer is calling for more disclosure when it comes to booking flights.

Specifically, Schumer introduced new legislation requiring online travel websites to notify customers on the first page as to what carriers will be running their flight.

The measure is supported by the families of victims who died when Flight 3407 crashed in February.

The flight was a Continental connection, but was actually operated by Colgan Air, a regional carrier.

Senate Committee hearings in Washington were held earlier this month.

The training and safety requirements of regional airline pilots have come under intense scrutiny.

Scott Maurer's daughter died on Flight 3407.

Maurer said, "When you're sitting in the passenger section of the plane, again you're unaware of who's up there on the other side of those doors. Is full disclosure too much of a thing to ask when your life is at hand?"

50 people died when Flight 3407 crashed on a house in Clarence Center.

The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating.
