Silos go up at Batavia yogurt plant

BATAVIA, NY (WIVB) - Batavia saw a major step forward in its growing yogurt industry when two massive silos were installed Tuesday at the Alpina yogurt plant now under construction..
C&S Crane and Rigging hoisted the silos into place at the yogurt facility changing the appearance of the new plant at the Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park.
The silos will store raw milk. One of the silos is 40 feet talll and can hold 20,000 gallons of milk. The other is about half as large.
Alpina has starting hiring to fill 50 positions.
