SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Things are getting bumpier in the battle to fix a heavily-traveled highway on the southern tier.
Reconstruction of Interstate-86 in Seneca Nation territory has been revving up for some time now between the Indians and New York State. Monday night, the Cattaraugus County Legislature is chiming in, demanding Governor Andrew Cuomo get the ball rolling on the project.
However, the Seneca Nation wants to fix up the highway on its own, claiming Cuomo has refused to honor long-standing treaties.
The Southern Tier Expressway is considered a life-line for commerce and tourism.
