OLEAN, N.Y. (WIVB) - If you're looking to grow your family with a new pet, you may want to take a drive to the Cattaraugus County SPCA on Saturday.
The shelter on Route 16 in Olean is hosting an adoption day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All adoption fees will be waived. Right now the shelter is home to more than 130 cats and almost 100 dogs.
The conditions inside this SPCA have come under fire recently by animal rights activists, but those speaking on behalf of this location say the animals at this "no kill" shelter are getting all the care they need.
However, they admit the shelter needs more space, and are hopeful this adoption day will reduce the number of animals inside.
