Loved ones gather to remember Reed

CLYMER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A heartbroken community shared its grief Wednesday night over the loss of Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed, who was found murdered near his home this week.

In the tiny rural community, about a hundred people came to Clymer United Methodist Church to to find healing and security after the shocking murder Keith Reed, right up the road for the church.

Pastor Carolyn Stow said, "The community has been great about coming together and lifting each other up and finding the Holy Spirit in each other."

The church sent out a live web feed of the prayer service on a Facebook page made in Reed's memory.

One woman at the prayer service said, "We were blessed to have him in our community and get to know him and we thank you for the time we spent with him."

As investigators spent another day combing Reed's property for clues, one of his three daughters told News 4 by phone Wednesday that nothing was taken from the home, adding to the mystery of a motive.

"Our sense of security has been shattered," said one Clymer resident.

Former Clymer Central School asst. principal Kathy Storns said, "Clymer is a great community....and that's why I'm here."

While a hundred came together in prayer in the Town of Clymer, even more came together in another southern tier community. Salamanca is where Reed grew up, and where his parents are very well known. Family friends and those who knew him from Clymer came together for the first night of his wake.

Reed's wake continues on Thursday. His funeral is set for Friday morning in Salamanca. There will be a Memorial Service for him at Clymer Central School on Monday night at 7 p.m.
