HARMONY, N.Y. (WIVB) - A missing hunter was found dead by authorities on the southern tier, who say he fell 20-feet from his tree stand to the ground.
A concerned friend called the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office Tuesday afternoon to report 68-year-old Allen "Randy" Smith of Butler, PA had gone out hunting in woods off Blockville Watts Flats Road in the Town of Harmony and had not been seen since.
Deputies along with other agencies searched a wooded area for three hours before finding Smith at the bottom of a tree. Authorities say it appears something broke on Smith's tree stand, causing him to fall to his death.
