PERRYSBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - The monster storm called Sandy couldn't scare away the trick or treaters in most of western New York, but some communities postponed the tradition.
In Kenmore, kids in colorful and creative costumes paraded down Delaware Road, kicking off two hours of trick or treating.
Anita Coleman said, "The little kids are dressed up so cute. The bigger kids... they try to make an effort but it's one good piece [of candy] for the little ones and one bad piece [of candy] for the big ones!"
But the houses in Perrysburg were dark Wednesday night and the streets mostly empty, making for a most unusual Halloween. And in neighboring Gowanda, trick or treating was postponed until the weekend, but that didn't stop Alexandra Smith's family.
"I went over to Silver Creek. Every year [we go trick or treating], no matter what," Smith said.
Perrysburg and Gowanda will both hold trick or treating on Saturday, and Perrysburg will hold a Halloween parade at 2 p.m. Wilson will have trick or treating on Sunday.
