ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police are investigating an accident between a school bus and a box truck in the southern tier.
Troopers say the truck rear-ended a First Student school bus at a railroad crossing on Route 242 near Ellicottville on Thursday, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
The bus was headed from BOCES to Pioneer Central Schools. There were 14 students onboard, none of whom were hurt. The students were placed on another school bus and taken to school.
The driver of the truck, Jeffrey Coen of Franklinville, suffered leg injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was charged with following too closely and police say additional charges are pending regarding his vehicle inspection.
Police say they do not believe weather played a role in the crash.
