Students donate truck full of food

OLEAN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some local students with warm hearts are helping the less fortunate on the southern tier.

St. Joe's Collegiate Institute and St. Mary's High School delivered a truck filled with food to the Warming House in Olean on Thursday. The students have been collecting donations for three weeks. The Warming House offers a hot meal each day with the help of volunteers from St. Bonaventure University.

The university's executive director, Father Francis Di Spigno, said, "This is crucial to our ministry here because the food that they bring to us now helps us throughout the year. Without this donation, we wouldn't be able to offer the services nor the meals that we do."

The Warming House is the oldest student-run soup kitchen in the country.
