WILSON, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two students accused in a sexual hazing incident on a Wilson High School team bus have been allowed to return to school.
Many parents are upset the district let them return before the criminal case is finished.
The small farming community that was rocked by a hazing scandal last April, may have gotten back to normal on the outside, but there's still turmoil brewing in Wilson.
Two of the three students now charged with misdemeanor hazing and forcible touching for the incident that allegedly took place on a baseball school bus, are now back in school.
Wilson High School parent Bob Martin said, "The two kids that were beaten up were scared to death, they shouldn't have to be scared, there shouldn't have to be talk of home schooling the victims."
But after a judge loosened the restrictions on the victims' orders of protection, a superintendent's hearing was held last week where the decision was made to allow Colton Sherman and Christopher Sidote back in school.
Defense attorney Kevin Shelby said, "As far as I know, he was permitted in school without restrictions with respect to extra-curricular activities."
The superintendent says they now have a school resource officer and have put measures in place to make sure all the students involved are safe.
Wilson Superintendent Michael Wendt said, "Experience has taught me that the kids will be just fine. They're going to take their cues from adults and if adults rest with it, I think the kids will rest with it as well."
News 4's Alysha Palumbo asked, "Even the victims?"
Wendt said, "That's, there's a real possibility that will happen."
