BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The city with a national reputation for snow is moving ahead with plans to make it a national attraction.

Members of the group Working for Downtown got a progress report Wednesday on plans for the National Weather Discovery Center.

Organizers hope to create a waterfront site where visitors can enjoy interactive weather and climate displays. The first of it's kind museum has strong community support.

Buffalo Weather Experience Center President Craig Turner said, "We're just looking to take that next step. So the important part of that right now is making contacts in the community to build our team of volunteers and you know, eventually reaching out to the money people in town."

The next step is a feasibility study which will map out the specific design, location and number of expected visitors.
