AMHERST, NY (WIVB) - Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital will be adding a 10-bed neonatal intensive care unit in partnership with Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Millard officials filed a certificate with the state Department of Health for the project. The cost of the development was not disclosed.
The hospital plans to convert six licensed maternity beds, two rehabilitation beds and two critical care beds for the new unit.
The new unit will be located on the second floor, adjacent to the labor and delivery program. This will eliminate the need for at-risk newborns to be transported to a separate facility and risk further medical complications.
Millard Fillmore Suburban is a 261 bed facility and a subsidiary of Kaleida Health.
