A former president of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Calvin Lay has died.
The Buffalo News reports that Calvin E. Lay of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, died this past weekend at the Gowanda Nursing Home at 86 years old
Mr. Lay was very active in Seneca affairs and was born to the Deer Clan in Red House near Salamanca.
He served two terms as president of the Seneca Nation in the late 1970's and 80's.
Mr. Lay was a World War II veteran, serving in France and Belgium.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
