CASTILE, N.Y. (WIVB) - On Thursday, authorities in Wyoming County announced they still cannot confirm that the body found in a massive fire in Castile belongs to a woman who lived in the building.
Lorraine Qutermous has not been seen since Tuesday's fire. The 52-year-old ran a popular restaurant in a mixed-use building that also held government offices and she lived on the second floor. Wednesday, a body was found in the basement of the building.
Authorities say their investigation continues, but after an autopsy Thursday morning, they were unable to identify the body as Qutermous'.
Investigators are now trying to retrace her steps prior to the devastating fire and ask anyone who has information on her whereabouts between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday to call the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office at 585-786-8989.
