ARCADE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Authorities are warning travelers about a man who may be impersonating a police officer.
On Tuesday, troopers say a 21-year-old woman informed them that she was stopped on Route 98 in the Town of Arcade around 2:25 p.m. The vehicle was a navy four-door sedan and had blue lights in the windshield and had some kind of police insignia on the driver's door.
The man who pulled the woman over is described as white, between 30- and 40-years-old with blond hair and a medium build. He is around 6 feet tall and was wearing a blue uniform with no insignia, a duty belt with a gold shield, and a collapsible baton. He did not have a holster or a gun.
Anyone with any information on this incident or similar incidents should call State Police at 585-786-2299 or 716-759-6831.
Police say if you ever feel you are being stopped by someone who is not a law enforcement officer, call 911 or drive directly to the nearest police station.
