BUFFALO, N.Y. - John Tavares will turn 44 years old next month, but he is still one of the best lacrosse players on the planet. The long-time Bandits star will be back next season, signing a one-year contract with the team.

Tavares, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, is an 18-time All-Pro.

He has been with the Bandits since the very beginning, back in 1992. Tavares has scored 19.8% of the Bandits' 3,861 goals in franchise history. He has at least a point on 42.1% of the team's goals.

“I am extremely excited to be back for another year and looking forward to turning things around,” said Tavares in a team-issued press release. “We had an off year last season, but that will change in 2013. Banditland and the city of Buffalo deserve another championship and we are going to do everything we can to bring that to them.”
