CALGARY (WIVB) - The season did not start off well for the Buffalo Bandits. They lost in Calgary Saturday night, defeated by the Roughnecks 10-9. A second half comeback by Buffalo fell just short.
Calgary led 8-5 at the half. The Bandits cut the lead to one in the third quarter, but never could tie the game. A goal with :17 seconds left made the final margin just one.
Mark Steenhuis and Roger Vyse each scored twice for the Bandits. Vyse added four assists. Newcomer Tracy Kelusky, a former Calgary player, had a goal and three assists.
Buffalo stays on the road for their second game, next Saturday at Philadelphia. Their home opener is January 22 vs. Toronto.
